ILD chief creative officer Jay Winkler, art director Jessica Baskin, and designer Annie Sencindiver-Kulik worked closely to create a series of space travel themed posters to celebrate NASA's SpaceX Demo-2 Mission to the International Space Station and America's return to space. This historical event marked the first time a spacecraft designed and built by a private company, using a rocket that can return part of itself to Earth, has lofted humans into space. The poster designs pay homage to the illustrated style of the 1960’s with a nod to the future. Each piece was first drawn loosely by hand in a thumbnail sketch style, and then vectorized in Adobe Illustrator with Photoshop effects added.
In addition, space mission style patches were designed to complement the posters and commemorate our agency's milestones over the past 25 years.
Prints of the posters will be made available for purchase in the near future.
